Custom built on off construction may be the only solution for specialty applications. This 30 ft (9.2 meter) aluminum I/O powered vessel was designed and built for a Toronto area yacht club as a Race Committee boat. Lower operating and yearly maintenance costs were two deciding reasons to replace their existing steel vessel. The fact that alloy construction allowed a custom design incorporating the club's recognized signature appearance was a welcome bonus. The vessel is still in active service at 24 years of age.
